Divisional Financial Controller - FTC

The Divisional FC role at Worknest Secure (the Cyber and ISO Division within Axiom GRC) offers a unique opportunity to join a growing finance team at a critical point in the functions’ development. The newly created Division is on an accelerated growth path, and this role is central to shaping the financial processes and reporting standards that will support that journey. Reporting directly to the Divisional Finance Director, the Senior FC will play an integral role in providing financial insights, budget analysis, and management reporting to support strategic decision-making across the Cyber Division.
To co-ordinate and deliver the finance function for the business, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, robust controls, optimal cash-flow management, and strategic business partnering to the senior leadership team. Alongside with the Divisional FD, this role will be responsible for overseeing the month-end/year-end close, budgeting & forecasting, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on, impactful role where the successful candidate will be key to driving efficiencies, managing reporting processes, and supporting the FD in the Cyber Division's financial planning and analysis activities. The Cyber Division is undertaking a significant program of system change and this role will be critical to achieving our implementation goals.
This is a 9-12 months FTC (fixed-term contract) role.
Responsibilities:
- Co-rodinate the management accounts process: prepare, review and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial results, commentary on variances vs budget/forecast.
- Collate and present Divisional monthly business results to FD and CFO ahead of submission to Group.
- Assist FD with preparation of financial reporting for internal monthly business reviews.
- Assist FD with budgeting and monthly rolling forecasting, working closely with senior stakeholders and business units.
- Manage cash flow and working capital ensuring the Division can meet its’ cash requirements.
- Assist FD to ensure statutory accounts, audit schedules, tax filings and regulatory compliance are completed accurately and on time including foreign entities.
- Establish and maintain robust internal controls, finance policies and procedures; continuously improve finance processes and systems.
- Act as a strategic partner to the business: provide financial insight, challenge assumptions, support decision-making, and drive performance improvement.
- Assist the function through the period of transformational change including but not limited to the ERP implementation (Netsuite)
- Assist FD to develop and motivate the finance team, building strength in depth, fostering growth and ensuring succession planning.
Key Relationships:
- Reports to: Finance Director
- Regular interactions with: CFO / Senior Divisional Leadership Team / External auditors / Tax advisors
Candidate Expectations:
The right candidate will have:
Formal Qualifications
- Degree educated
- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent)
Knowledge and experience required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within companies in transition, undergoing growth and business transformation / integration.
- Strong knowledge of technical accounting, financial reporting, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting.
- Excellent IT skills, expert in Excel and competent across the full suite of Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of Xero, Sage, Adaptive Planning and NetSuite an advantage.
- Proven track record in delivering month-end/year-end close, management accounts, variance analysis and financial commentary.
- Experience of working within a group ownership structure, managing the reporting of monthly financial information in a predefined format and calendar
- Experience of process improvement, finance transformation or system implementation
